Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation site visit. We look at your rooms, discuss the finish and layout you want, take measurements and give honest advice on what will work best, with no pressure to proceed.
What is the difference between solid and engineered wood flooring?
Solid wood is a single piece of timber throughout and can be sanded and refinished many times over its life. Engineered wood has a real hardwood top layer bonded to a stable plywood core, which makes it more resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, so it suits underfloor heating and modern homes especially well. We supply both and will recommend the right one for your rooms.
Can I use hardwood flooring with underfloor heating?
Yes. Engineered wood is the best choice over underfloor heating because its layered construction stays stable as the floor warms and cools. We will specify the correct board and installation method so your floor and heating work well together.
Do you make bespoke parquet patterns?
Yes. Bespoke parquet is our speciality. Versailles panels, herringbone, chevron, basket-weave and custom designs, made to order and hand-finished to the colour and grade you choose. You can see the patterns on our Bespoke Flooring page.
Can you match a new floor to my existing floor?
In most cases, yes. We can match species, board width, colour and finish to blend new flooring with an existing floor, or to extend a floor into a new room or extension. We will bring samples so you can compare before committing.
How long does a typical installation take?
It depends on the size of the area, the pattern and whether any subfloor preparation is needed. A single room is often completed in a few days; larger or intricate parquet projects take longer. We give you a clear timescale as part of your quote.
Is floor sanding very messy?
We use dust-managed sanding equipment with extraction, which captures the vast majority of dust at source. It is far cleaner than traditional sanding, though we always recommend clearing the room and protecting adjoining spaces. We leave your home tidy at the end of each day.
Can old or damaged wooden floors be restored?
Usually, yes. Many tired, scratched or previously painted floors can be sanded back and refinished to look close to new. We can also repair damaged boards, re-fix loose sections and re-stain to a colour you prefer. We will tell you honestly if a floor is beyond saving.
Do you supply flooring without installation?
Our focus is supply and installation together, so we can stand behind the finished result. If you have a specific supply-only requirement, contact us and we will let you know what we can offer.
Is hardwood flooring suitable for homes with children and pets?
Yes. A well-chosen and properly finished hardwood floor is hard-wearing and easy to keep clean. We can recommend harder-wearing species, more forgiving finishes and matte or brushed textures that hide day-to-day marks well.
How do I care for my new floor?
Hardwood floors are simple to look after: sweep or vacuum regularly, clean with a barely-damp mop and a wood-floor cleaner, avoid standing water, and use felt pads under furniture. We give you finish-specific care advice when your floor is completed.
How much does a hardwood floor cost?
Cost depends on the wood, the finish, the pattern and the size and condition of your rooms, so we price every project individually. After a free site visit we give you a clear, itemised quote with no hidden extras.
